Doping Far More Existent Than Thought!
Posted on January 23rd, 2010 1 commentDoping is one issue that has spread out its ugly fangs into almost every sport. Doping, as must be known to everybody, is much more common among the athletes. Time and again doping or the use of prohibited drugs has ruined sportsmen and thwarted all their hard earned name, fame, fortune, and respect in matter of seconds. Sportsmen like Diego Maradona, Michael Johnson are examples who ruined their flourishing careers owing to the use of prohibited drugs. There are many other sportsmen who lost their medals and honour when they were found guilty of doping. Doping is today no longer restricted to the athletes alone though it is still more common among them. In almost all the sports doping has become an issue to worry about. Not surprising therefore that today almost in every major sport event vigorous doping tests are conducted.
Doping and use of the prohibited drugs is far more widespread than we know. There are drugs that are used by sportsmen and that are not detectable. Whether or not these drugs are harmful to the human body is a different matter but they are definitely not to be used by sportsmen. Among the athletes use of prohibited drugs is almost imperative. According to insiders almost all the athletes use drugs. Interestingly these athletes are even encouraged by their coaches to use these drugs. Use of drugs is an open secret in the world of athletics. There is nothing to hide or controversial about the use of these drugs. It’s known to everyone that these performance enhancing drugs are widespread in the athletic circuit. The only thing is that they are discreet about it.
The life of an athlete is not easy. An athlete remains at the top for maximum three to four years. The popularity and money earned in this period proves to be instrumental for the athlete. The rest of his life depends on what he earns in his years on the top. Thus if some drug helps him to capture that top slot, the athletes go for it. Contrary to what people believe, doping doesn’t help sportsmen perform better directly. They help them to recover quickly and get less tired. This in turn helps the athletes to train harder thus enhancing their skills and fine tuning them.
The drugs that are used in the sports arena are prescribed. The doctors who prescribe these drugs are also helpless in deterring the athletes from using them. So what they do is that they instruct them on how to use the drugs so that they are not adversely affected by the side effects of the drugs. It is not unnatural that the drugs that are beneficial also have side-effects. As for example quit smoking drug chantix. One of the most popular drugs in this category, people trust chantix the most which is evident from the huge number of people who opt buy chantix to help them come over the nicotine withdrawal symptoms. If you are a smoker and want to quit, you can buy chantix online. It is convenient and easier to track chantix online. On a lighter note you won’t be penalized for having the quit smoking drug as is the case with doping!

Soccer Drills – Double Your Goal Scoring Opportunities. Help Your Team Score More Goals
Posted on January 15th, 2010 No commentsAre you limiting your team’s goal scoring opportunities by the way you have them playing the game? I was looking at the English Premier League goal scoring results for last weekend and about 50 percent of the goals that were scored were scored from a central position and the other 50 percent were initiated from a wide position. There were a handful scored from corners and penalties, but I will leave that for another article. So what is your attacking strategy, and are you limiting your opportunities by only attacking through one area of the field?
Team formation has a big bearing on how you tend to attack. A 4 4 2 formation with two central attackers will promote attack through the middle of the field. Few goals will result from wide positions as the midfield will try to present the ball to the two forwards that are positioned centrally. One of the strategies that I teach young players to counter this is to use midfielders or defenders that overlap to produce extra width in attack. It is essential that these players have sufficient mobility and fitness to recover their positions quickly if the attack breaks down.
In a 4 4 2 formation I also like to encourage my strikers to move out wide to change the focus of the attack, and to rotate their positions. It becomes much easier for the defenders if your strikers maintain the same position throughout the entire match. Defenders are much more uncomfortable if they are never quite sure where their striker is. In a game situation if one of my strikers breaks down the right side of the field I encourage the other striker to attack the near post when the cross comes in, and I then encourage the left midfielder and left central midfielder to attack the far post to give extra scoring potential in the penalty area. The other central midfielder should assume a position on the top of the penalty area and the right midfielder should offer support behind the right striker.
If you adopt a 4 3 3 formation you already will have width in your attack. You may choose to play with one or two designated wingers in this formation, and a central striker. Again I like to encourage my strikers to rotate their field position so as to keep the defence guessing. It will take your strikers some time to become comfortable with this, but I definitely have found it worth the effort as more goal scoring opportunities will result.
Attacking centrally requires that your strikers have good ball skills, the ability to deliver a first time shot, and the ability to turn on the ball and shoot. The skills should be practiced regularly at training. Attacking from a wide position will require that your strikers are confident in the air, and that they can strike a ball that is coming across their body. Strikers should be able to strike the ball with their weaker foot, almost as well as they can with their stronger foot to give them maximum goal scoring potential.
As a coach I look at my team during the season to see where the goal scoring opportunities are coming from. Attacking with width will generally require more mobility and fitness of your players. You must encourage them at training to recover their position quickly when the ball is lost in attack. I have always found that players move forward more quickly than they move backwards. So, the danger in moving too many players forward in attack is that you may be exposed in defence when an attack breaks down. This skill must be practiced at training to ensure that players recover their position quickly during a game.
In order to maximise your goal scoring opportunities you must teach your team to attack from more than one area of the field. Using drills to teach them to attack both centrally and with width is critical to their success in scoring goals during games. Your strikers must also be taught specific skills so that they are able to capitalise on as many goal scoring opportunities as possible. Strikers must have a great first touch, the ability to shoot first time, be strong with either foot, and be confident in the air to name just a few. In this way you will maximise your goal scoring opportunities come game time.

Are the Football Shirts More Famous From a Particular Country?
Posted on January 14th, 2010 No commentsWhen you think of football shirts, the first country that comes to mind is England. Manchester United has dominated football shirt sales for years, and they are not likely to fall off any time soon. I’m sure there are many countries that would argue the point, but I don’t think there’s any doubt that the UK, particularly England, continues to hold the title as the country with the most famous football shirts.
From Manchester United to Middlesbrough to Celtic United, UK teams have always set the standard for football shirts. It only makes sense because football was created in England, so the traditions and styles of football wear were established there first. The famous red vest with white arms of the Arsenal defined an era of football in England. Everyone would recognize the basic elements of football shirts that came out of the English tradition. The three stripes on the shoulder of short sleeved shirts, or the alternating vertical stripes that are so commonly used in football shirts are two examples.
As football continues to be an international game, countries outside of the United Kingdom are beginning to set trends as well. Several innovative designs are coming out of countries like Brazil or Germany, where football is a matter of national pride.
England’s various teams have always set the standard for football shirt design. If you see a color pattern or design on a football shirt and believe you’ve seen it before, it’s probably been a design worn by a team from the United Kingdom.
The famous players who wear the shirts also have a lot to do with how famous a shirt is. The shirt’s fame can also hinge on when it was worn and how well a team did. The 1966 World Cup Final shirt that was worn by England is famous for its simplicity – a red shirt with the simple white English crest on the chest. The 1968 Manchester United shirt that was worn in the European Cup Final is famous for its unusual dark blue color, and for the famous players who wore it when Manchester United won the European Cup.
Some famous shirts from outside of the UK have much to do with the men who wore them. The 1986 blue and white striped Argentina shirt reminds fans of the year Diego Maradona helped lead Argentina to a World Cup victory. The football shirt worn by Pele in Brazil’s 1970 World Cup win is also pretty well known internationally. Football fans are known for their loyalty, so the question of whose football shirts are most famous could draw some pretty intense arguments. Most fans would, of course, declare their own country’s shirts as the best and most famous. I believe that the tradition and longstanding domination of the football teams from England would have to give them the edge in this competition. The shirts may change from year to year, but England has always set the style for football shirts around the world.

More Practice for Soccer
Posted on January 1st, 2010 No commentsAs an athlete and sports buff most of my life that I get sick of hearing people to a point outstanding athlete and say: “He has the genetic” or “He was born to play like that” . Really, to OJ Simpson who has suffered from being bowlegged because of deficiencies in vitamin is born to be one of the best running backs in American football?
The truth is that the only thing that makes every great athlete a great athlete is practical. Soccer is no different; greatest Pele, Ronaldo and Beckham all have this in common. They practiced constantly to the point of exhaustion and beyond. It is a practice that gives you both the competence and confidence to be able to make the passes and shots that make a difference in a match. If you want to be a great soccer player then you must commit to daily practice from now.
The aspect of being in excellent physical condition is another crucial element of soccer with aerobic conditioning to be the vanguard. If you are tired and can not be run at your peak for an entire game, then you need a better packaging. Soccer practice focuses on developing your skills and technology. Your competence is identified as your ability to execute techniques that are taught as a trap, throw or kick. It is a regimented and consistent practice that a player is able to develop skills and confidence to play at a higher level.
Always have a plan to achieve the goals you want to meet before starting your practice sessions. Having an exact format and plan your time to stop wasting time and not knowing what to do next. Have objectives to be achieved, once you reach all the highest. It is better to have a friend or someone who shares your zeal for the sport to practice with you, especially when you try to improve your technique of kicking. If you are unable to find someone to practice with you focus kicking a specific area of the ball and make it where you want. You can also hit the ball in a particular place on a wall if you do not have a buddy to kick.
Another important aspect of soccer is control. A good way to practice ball is put in place cones and zigzag through the dribble the ball and try not to stop or even slow down. This exercise will help you when it comes to having to dribble a soccer pitch in a real game where you dodge other players.
As with any sport, you can also learn a lot by watching other players closely. If you have a preferred position, watching a game and focus on this player and learn how he executes his technique. Follow these tips and you’ll be well on your way to become a great soccer player.
