There is no greater professional than David Beckham. Take a look at his career…How can they question his commitment when he’s spent his off – season playing football instead of sunning it up on holiday… he’s doin it to remain at the top of his game for the World Cup… this has surely got to benefit The Galaxy… granted he misses some of ther season… but in the grand scheme of things…any player in that squad would have done the same…

American soccer fans can be happy and proud that a guy like Beckham plays for the MLS. It makes the MLS more attractive and maybe if the league gets better, there will play more stars and better guys.

He made a wrong decision going to MLS he went for the money and he should of stayed in europe because of the quality of the play and only has a couple of years left if that until he retires. He wants to be remebered as the best player in the world not the guy who went to america and got payed a bucket load of money

What”s wrong with this people. Imagine being a small town boy with a dream of being a PROFFESIONAL footballer finally achieving that, reaching high standards of playing then getting to the bottom of the footballing world. MLS needs TIME!! not BECKHAM!!! .

he’s won pretty much every major trophy except the world cup, he’s 34 – so by next year he will be 35! This is his last shot at it, i can unerstand why he would go to AC milan.

He went to the states for the money ! and who could honestly blame him for that !? if he doesnt play his football in the uk or europe then he wont be in the world cup squad and he wants that more than anything. I love becks, but i can see why he’s come under alot of fire in the USA.

beckham should be in a proper team. not a team from mls. Donovan has no right saying anything seeing that hes not even premiership or even championship quality.

americans should be happy that this guy is playing here…..MLS FUCKING SUCKS
-
crazyyank77 February 8th, 2010 at 21:38
If that is the case then he shouldn’t have signed with MLS in the first place. Why should he be cut some slack for acting like a douche bag towards the club paying him millions of dollars?

Beckham honors Beckham, what a scumbag. Only befitting that his team is the Scum.
Go San Jose! -

Becks is committed to the Galaxy but everyone has to understand that he is also passionate about playing for England in the world cup…as he rightly should.
To play for his country he needs to be at his peak fitness wise and unfortunately he can’t be at his peak playing in the MLS. It’s harsh but true. He needs to have the time training and playing in Europe to meet the standards required to be part of the England team. People should cut him some slack. -

The ambassador job is the main lie we have to deal with, and it was shoved down everyone’s throats on his arrival. He’s failed, not for lack of trying, but because he HASN’T tried.
While this may be the first time he’s dogged it for a team or league, does that mean we, as MLS fans, should allow it? Our highest profile player and supposed ambassador spent and his “19 Management” team spent all last year trying to get him away. Anyone watching games saw him phoning in LA but not England.

I don’t know much about this ambassador job he has so i can’t really comment, but he’s been renowned for he work ethic at every other club he’s played for so….
There are other things to consider which can impact performance; the team spirit, tactics, impact of all the flights and side issues…etc.
I can’t really say i am a big fan of his work, but all of this does seem a bit harsh. What does 100% commitment even look like when you’re 34 and flying long hauls regularly..etc regularly?

It’s not a problem that he plays for his country, he renegged on the promises he made about being an ambassador for the game here. Jose Morhinho has done more promotion for the game than Becks has since he arrived.
Worse, from a competition stand point, he’s claiming to be giving 100% to everyone. Anyone watching him play last year saw him phoning in games until he could get to Milan. He’s lying; he doesn’t want to be here.
Would you date someone who is as committed as he is to MLS?
-
Carfer22 February 9th, 2010 at 01:11
I don’t understand the issue. Beckham could have his pick of most top European sides and yet he still plays for the LA Galaxy.
So he plays for his country….whats the problem? If he really wanted to leave he wouldn’t have much trouble doing that!
You should remember that Beckham can’t run an entire game on his own. He’s an assist maker, not a playmaker! You need to control possession to get the best out of him!

becks is a big help for galaxy!
-
PresageLaRosa February 9th, 2010 at 01:33
Yup, totally committed to flying thousands of mile to play for his country. Committed to the club and league he was hired to be ambassador for? Not so much. Let’s stop begging, his lies tell us exactly what we need to know…sell him.

Come on men he is one of the best players
of this last years
I think galaxy is not a big team
and mls need to know that
they need more time and more players
not used one to be a big
league!! -
