IS THERE ANYONE IN THE PRESENT ITALIAN TEAM TO MAtCH UP TO THE GREATNESS OF ZINEDINE ZIDANE?
Posted on December 28th, 2009 17 commentsno offense, i like many players in the Italian team. But I don’t think anyone is as great as Zidane. Not Cannavaro, not Buffon, not del piero, not anyone, not even roberto baggio(maybe paolo maldini) I know these people are not exactly playing in the same position as zizou did but I can’t find anyone who is greater in the Italian team unlike a few ppl who keep on saying that zidane is crap and blah blah
What is it that makes Zidane so special? I just can’t find words to describe him.
@jehoshua: just because aomeone is bald doesn’t make him hideous or not likeable. And u dont need girls chasing after u to make u a legend.17 responses to “IS THERE ANYONE IN THE PRESENT ITALIAN TEAM TO MAtCH UP TO THE GREATNESS OF ZINEDINE ZIDANE?”

Since you’re talking about the present Italian team,I’m sorry but I don’t think there’s one but if you’re talking about the retired Italian players, then I think Roberto Baggio would do.

none. zidane is incomparable just like pele, maradona, and other footballing greats are themselves considered unique. there’s just one zizou and even if the present crop of players, italian or otherwise, would someday become legends themselves, still they can never be zizou. it will be hard for anyone to duplicate his career achievements, his brand of play, the elegant, patented moves, his innate decency as a person, and most esp. the respect he’s earned from peers, fans and critics alike. i agree with you, he’s truly special and i’m not saying this just ‘cuz i’m a fan. it’s the reverse: i’m a fan ‘cuz i saw all these qualities in zidane.

I agree with Lady_ chat…people are solely focused on the incident at the world cup. People on the forum have been pushed to defend one or the other and their opinions are now set in stone. There are many talented players in the Italian team but none for me personally that compare to Zidane. His grace and foresight, his ability to read or set up a play before others see it evolving, shows the caliber of player he is and the depth to which he understands the game itself and his role within it. His ability to lift and motivate those around him, even his opponents, shows how his peers respect him and what he can achieve and make happen in a game. His achievements outside the game, charity work and passion for children and underprivileged are other qualities that contribute to the man he is, but that’s a whole other story.
