  • Could anyone explain the soccer moves and rules to me?

Posted on December 28th, 2009 admin 4 comments

I am starting soccer this year and I don’t know any of the moves or soccer terms. I know most of the basic rules, but not all of them. Soccer for me should be starting this month and I need help!

    • Well, the first is offsides.

If a player gets past every defender, except the goalie, when a ball is being played, you are called offsides.
On a corner kick you have to be behing the goalie for offsides.

      You can get a card

a yellow – a warning. i.e. fairly rough tackel, time wasting

a red- sent off, for violence or changing the course of a game illegaly.

YOU CANNOT TOUCH THE BALL WITH YOU HANDS.

there are penalty kicks, awarded when someone is brought down in the box.

    • Fantastic I love new soccer players I hope you go well.

Ok 4 main positions: Defender is who stands in the back 1/3 of the field normaly their aim is to stop attacks from the other team to their goals. The main position is the sweeper, this player ’sweeps’ up the balls and players that may go over the defence. Sometimes the goal keeper will take up this position.

Midfield: The possition with the most running, these players both play attacking and defensive roles. 4 main areas, defencive midfield=back 2/3, attacking midfield = top 2/3, center mid = most areas, and the left and right midfields.

Attack: The players that score most of the goals. Main player in this group it the striker. Right up the top infront of goals.

Keeper: or Goal keeper, generally only one in the team and is usally the tallest in the team so they can reach high balls.

Coach: The man/woman that yells at you on the side

Referee: The man/woman that yells at you on the feild.

Lines person: someone who runs up and down the sides with a flag showing who the ball came off and if an offside occures.

Offside: When the attacker goes past the last defender and the ball is played to them. Check out FIFA’s website.

Man On: Generally someone shouts this at you when there is a player approaching you.

Cross it: Another comand meaning send the ball to the other side of the field.

Volley: Hitting the ball in mid flight with your foot

Finish: How you follow though after a shot on goal

Dribble: running or jogging with the ball at your feet.

Lob: A ball kicked into the air

Head: Jumping up and hitting the ball with your upper forehead.

Goal: Getting the ball between the two posts, under the cross bar and across the goal line.

Penalty: A one on one with the goal keeper from a spot in the box.

Box: The area surrounding the goals.

Goal Side: generally the keeper yells this at defenders, it means to stay on the side of your goal to stop them scoring. Or making them have to score through you.

Mark Up: Go and find a player and stay goal side

Fun: What you are doing when playing soccer

Football: What passionate soccer players call soccer.

    • dont worry about it just go to practice you only need to know the basic rules.

Fabregas is wrong its not possible to be offside from a corner
